Monday 26th February 2001 marked the launch of the Branch’s first publication

“These Hallowed Grounds Vol. 1”

Hopefully, it is the first in a series of publications dealing with the recording of headstone inscriptions from various graveyards in the Lisburn area. The present publication deals almost entirely with the recording of headstones belonging to the derelict and abandoned graveyard of Kilrush.

Volume one is a recording of the inscriptions of Kilrush and St. Patrick's Burial Grounds, Lisburn.

Volume Two will deal with Lisburn Cathedral Graveyard, and is currently being compiled.

This book, published by the Lisburn Branch of the North of Ireland Family History Society, in association with Lisburn Historical Society, provides a view of the town of Lisburn and its people over a period of approximately 250 years.

The “launch” was hosted in the Lisburn Museum at 6:30 pm. with a large attendance of civil & public dignitaries and representatives from various other societies. The President of NIFHS paid tribute to Ann Robinson and her team, for the production of such a comprehensive record of information, which was at the point of being lost for ever.
